President Hakainde Hichilema says Zambia must use digital platforms to cut bureaucracy, delays and inefficiencies that are slowing investment and service delivery.

President Hichilema says digital infrastructure should not be treated merely as an enabler, but as an integral part of Government’s efforts to deliver services to citizens and create a more conducive environment for investment.

The President was speaking during a meeting with United Arab Emirates Minister of Cabinet Affairs Mohammed Bin Abdullah Al Gergawi in Abu Dhabi.

He said the need to remove bureaucracy is directly linked to the Grow Zambia Agenda, which seeks to accelerate economic growth and improve service delivery.

And Mr. Al Gergawi said the UAE is ready to work with Zambia in transforming opportunities into practical solutions, including creating opportunities for the private sector.

He said the UAE has already been implementing a programme aimed at reducing bureaucracy, following a directive from the President of the UAE.

Mr. Al Gergawi said the experience could provide lessons for Zambia as it seeks to improve efficiency and create opportunities for private-sector participation.
