Application preparation
Mining job searches in Zambia often show mine owners, contractors, labour providers and copied adverts together. A tracker should preserve the exact legal employer and official source so you do not submit the same role repeatedly or follow a fraudulent status message.
Record the employer relationship
Create fields for advertised employer, operation or client, location, job title, reference and source URL. A contractor working at Lumwana, Kansanshi or another site is not automatically the mine owner. Keep the relationship stated in the vacancy.
Use Barrick's Lumwana operation page and the official careers link it provides when checking Barrick-related listings. Use First Quantum Minerals' identified careers route for FQM opportunities. A mine information page does not prove that every role mentioned online is open.
Track the application route
Record portal, form, email or physical instructions exactly. Add account used, submission date and confirmation reference, but never store a password in the tracker. Mark saved draft, submitted and confirmed as different statuses.
If the portal no longer shows a vacancy, do not reuse a copied deadline. Keep the historical row closed and search the official route for current listings.
Separate application from selection
Use statuses such as verified vacancy, preparing, submitted, acknowledgement received, assessment invited, interview invited, closed and withdrawn. An acknowledgement is not shortlisting and an assessment invitation is not an offer.
Record the sender domain and role reference for later messages. Independently verify unexpected requests for money, account access, medical payments or travel through the employer's official contact route.
Create an evidence map
For each application, list three essential requirements and the CV evidence used. This prevents sending a generic mining CV to operations, maintenance, finance and community roles with different needs.
State whether experience was employment, apprenticeship, attachment or training. Do not claim specialist equipment or site authority from observation alone.
Review weekly
Check official portals for status and new roles at a reasonable interval. Avoid repeated duplicate applications. Review which qualifications recur, which evidence is weak and which locations or rosters are realistic for you.
Protect the tracker because it contains personal application history. Do not share login credentials with someone offering to “follow up internally.” No third party can guarantee a Barrick, FQM or contractor selection decision.
