FNB Zambia has introduced vacant land loans of up to K1.5 million for residents of Luanshya as it reopens its refurbished branch and seeks to support the district’s economic growth.

FNB Zambia Retail Banking Executive Mwamba Musambo said the loans are repayable over a period of up to 10 years, with the land serving as security.

Mrs Musambo urged residents to prepare for opportunities expected from the development of Shaft 28, including increased demand for housing.

She said small and medium-sized enterprises can also access unsecured loans of up to approximately K1.5 million and encouraged entrepreneurs to approach the bank for business financing.

“Don’t let this pass you by. Let’s all take advantage of the opportunity,” she said.

Mrs Musambo said the refurbished branch features a business customer adviser, premium banking area, customer service centre and meeting room.

She said the investment demonstrates FNB Zambia’s commitment to Luanshya after more than 10 years of operations in the district.

“Today for us is not about opening a branch. It’s not about putting on new paint. It’s about demonstrating that Luanshya is important to us,” she said.

Luanshya District Commissioner Paul Malele welcomed the refurbishment, saying improved access to financial services would help residents and businesses participate in the district’s economic growth.

Mr Malele commended FNB for continuing to serve customers through a mobile banking unit, agents and digital channels while the branch was being refurbished.

He said investment by financial institutions supports the government’s Grow Zambia Agenda by helping entrepreneurs access capital, expand their businesses and create jobs.

Speaking on behalf of customers, local businessman Francis Chatepa said the refurbished branch had made banking more comfortable.

Mr Chatepa said customers who previously stood in queues can now sit while waiting to be served.

“We thank you so much. We just appeal to you to continue maintaining your quality service and to keep improving,” he said.

The launch was attended by Luanshya Town Clerk Collins Ndelema, who led government departmental heads, members of the business community, SMEs and residents.
