The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) in Nakonde District, in Muchinga Province has completed the verification of ballot papers ahead of Thursday’s general elections.

The verification exercise was conducted in the presence of stakeholders and representatives from the United Party for National Development (UPND) and the National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP).

Nakonde District Electoral Officer Donald Mwanza says that ballot papers from Nsonde and Mukumbe polling stations, drawn from 2 wards under 2 constituencies, were sampled during the exercise.

He stated that the stakeholders expressed satisfaction with the process and confirmed that everything was in order.

Mr Mwanza further disclosed that the dispatch of polling officials to hard-to-reach areas has commenced today.

He said 10 polling stations will receive officials and election materials in this first phase of the dispatch.

The District Electoral Officer added that both transport and personnel are ready and that the district is fully set for the poll scheduled for Thursday, August 13th, 2026.
