Minister of Finance and National Planning Situmbeko Musokotwane, says Government is open to more trade and investment between the United Kingdom and Zambia.

Dr Musokotwane says the United Kingdom and the Zambian government have long standing cooperation with the UK having several investments in the country.

He said this when British Trade Commissioner, Alastair Long and British High Commissioner Rebecca Terzeon paid a courtesy call on him at his office where they had a cordial discussion to enhance cooperation and open investment opportunities for Zambia.

Dr Musokotwane said the discussion was centered on specific investment areas adding that Britain has expertise and capital to invest in Zambia.

He stated that various proposals have been put across to the British High Commission delegation.

 “This comes at a time when the focus in Zambia is how to get the economy to grow so that young people can get jobs as well as business opportunities for Zambians,” he said.

Dr Musokotwane added that the British business community can take advantage of some of the targets on the Grow Zambia Agenda that include beef, mining, sugar and forestry.

And British Trade Commissioner, Alastair Long, said the United Kingdom is committed to investing and contributing to the Grow Zambia Agenda.

Mr Long noted that Zambia has great potential to grow with the coming of the Grow Zambia Agenda being spearheaded by President Hakainde Hichilema.

He further said Zambia has taken some significant steps to stabilize the economy and prepare itself for a bright future.

“The UK is really proud of our relationship, we are also incredibly proud of the investment relationship,” Mr Long said.

And British High Commissioner to Zambia, Rebecca Terzeon said UK will continue to invest in Zambia saying British international investments in the country date back to many decades ago.
