ZAMBIA and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have signed memoranda of understanding across various sectors worth US$2.14 billion.

And President Hakainde Hichilema says Zambia looks forward to signing the Comprehensive Partnership Agreement with the UAE to increase trade between the two countries.

Witnessing the signing during the Zambia-UAE Business Forum in Abu Dhabi, President Hichilema noted that his government will continue to prioritise increased trade and domestic reforms to attract the investment which is needed to grow the country’s economy.

The Head of State reaffirmed that Zambia remains open and ready for business and investment.

Meanwhile, President Hichilema noted that there is a lot to learn from the UAE that has harnessed its natural resources to develop its economy and raised the living standards of its people.

“As a country richly endowed with natural resources, we have much to learn from the UAE. Through the Grow Zambia Agenda, our goal is to double the size of our economy, delivering more revenue for public services, more jobs and more business for our people,” President Hichilema said.

He has since thanked the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, for the invitation to visit his country.
