Vice President, Mutale Nalumango, has urged Zambians to turn out in large numbers and exercise their democratic right to vote, saying every citizen has a stake in determining the country’s future.

Ms Nalumango notes that voting is the legitimate way citizens can express themselves and contribute to the outcome of the electoral process.

The Vice President was speaking after casting her vote at Energema Pentecostal Church 03 Polling Station in Ranchdale area of Chongwe.

Ms Nalumango said she was encouraged by the peaceful atmosphere at the polling station and called on Zambians to maintain peace regardless of the outcome of the election.

“You speak by voting, and you can see how peaceful it is. I love it. Zambia will remain peaceful, whatever the outcome, because that is who we are, and that is what we need for development,” she said.

Meanwhile, the Energema Pentecostal Church 03 Polling Station opened at 06:00 hours, with the first voter casting their ballot at 06:19 hours.

Voters were seen queuing in an orderly manner as electoral officials facilitated the voting process.

Presiding Officer, Timothy Zulu, said the situation at the polling station remained calm and peaceful, with voters patiently waiting for their turn to exercise their democratic right.

The polling station is among centres where citizens in Chongwe are participating in the 2026 General Election.
