I DIDN’T GO TO UAE TO HOSPITAL, SAYS HH
President Hakainde Hichilema says his latest trip to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was to woo investors and not to seek any medical treatment.
And President Hichilema has complained that the country is spending too much time on squabbles and petty arguments at the expense of progress and development.
The Head of State said this at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport this afternoon after returning from the Middle East where he also attended the UAE-Zambia Business Forum.
He said the trip to UAE was about promoting the “Grow Zambia Agenda.”
“…we’re delighted to be back home, very happy to be here and I hope you’re all well. I am ok as you can see. I didn’t go to a hospital; no! I was working; hard work for the people of Zambia. So, this whole trip was orchestrated to support the Grow Zambia Agenda,” President Hichilema told journalists.
“As of yesterday, we have been able to reach agreements in the investment level of $2.14 billion. I have left a small team working – we believe we’ll conclude more transactions which probably will take the ticket, maybe close to $3 billion or more.”
And President Hichilema implored Zambian to focus on the country’s development agenda unlike petting around.
“I would like Zambians, through you the media and others, to buy into this story, to share into this vision. We walk together, we run together and will have a better country. We have lost a lot of time in this country, squabbling, pettying around, [schism], whatever they’re based on. And we lose track of doing what is absolutely necessary for us to do as a country,” said President Hichilema.
