UPP THANKS HH FOR PROPORTIONAL REPRESENTATION NOMINATION ALLOCATION

United Progressive People (UPP) President Saviour Chishimba has thanked President Hakainde Hichilema for allocating the party an opportunity to submit names for consideration for nomination under the proportional representation system in local government.

Dr Chishimba said the party does not take the confidence placed in it for granted, describing the allocation as recognition of partnership, inclusion and the contribution of members of the UPND Alliance towards national development.

“We in the United Progressive People (UPP) are deeply grateful to President Hakainde Hichilema for giving our party an allocation to submit names for consideration for nomination under the proportional representation system in local government. We do not take this trust for granted,” he said.

He said the UPP joined the UPND Alliance because it believed in a broader national cause and remained committed to working with the Alliance in governing and serving the Zambian people.

Dr Chishimba said the responsibility was now on the party to nominate men and women who understand that public office is an opportunity to serve communities and not a reward.

He urged those who will be entrusted with public office to serve with humility, integrity and hard work, while protecting the reputation of the UPP, the UPND Alliance and Government.

“To President Hichilema, we simply say, ‘Thank you for the confidence and for recognising the United Progressive People as a partner in our collective national journey,’” Dr Chishimba said.

He pledged that the UPP would work to justify the confidence through service to the people.

“Zambia Forward, TOGETHER in UNITY,” Dr Chishimba said.
