GOVERNMENT in partnership with Ignite Access has launched a three-year Connectivity and Digital Learning programme set to benefit 70 schools in the country. 

Under the Initiative dubbed “Lynx Zambia Digital Inclusion,” the beneficiary schools will be linked to Starlink satellite internet connectivity, while those off the national electricity grid will be connected to solar power. 

Speaking on behalf of the Head of the Presidential Delivery Unit Kusobile Kamwambi, the PDU  Delivery Manager for Enhanced Value Chains, Jones Shimbela, noted that the initiative is aimed at directly addressing two national priorities, which are expanding access to reliable electricity and accelerating digital inclusion.  

Ministry of Education Permanent Secretary for Administration, Noriana Muneku who was represented by the Ministry’s Director for ICT, Victor Musangu said the support will directly enable the uptake of digital services and improved financial accountability in education institutions. 

And Ignite Access Managing Director, Hellen Zulu disclosed that during the first year, the company will provide installation, connectivity, solar systems and data services at no cost to schools.
