Democratic Union President Ackim Antony Njobvu has accused the UPND government of failing to deliver on its campaign promises to Zambians, saying it has focused more on blocking the opposition.

Speaking during the People’s Debate on Pan African Radio, Njobvu said President Hakainde Hichilema’s administration had rushed to push policies that were not helping citizens.

He claimed the government had failed to redeem the country economically but had “scored positives in oppressing the opposition”.

Njobvu was commenting on the recently introduced public gatherings bill.

He said the government’s intentions could have been good but questioned the timing and lack of consultation in the processes.
