NDINE EMMA said BIG comedians he idolized were cold and left him at a lodge after performing together at an ANNE KANSIIME show in Kitwe, and he vowed to be better than them.
The comedian said after winning a chance to perform at the show as an opening act in November 2021, he went and met top Zambian comedians who didn’t want to be close despite being at the same apartment.
The school-leaver comedian was shocked when they all left after the event; they left at 04:00 hours, leaving him at the apartment until he called the event promoter in the evening, who told him that his colleagues were already in Lusaka—unlike he thought, that they had gone to run regular errands as he usually noticed.
“But on the last day, they left without me; they all left in one car, they didn’t even wake me up bro,” he told his host.
It was Ndine Emma’s first time on the Copperbelt and, with no relatives, he had nowhere to go. He then found the market and boarded a bus to Lusaka and started crying as he was young and abandoned in a new place.
“On that bus, after nabwela lilako tupuzi, nabwela navela nyimbo, and then I just decided aba bonse nizaka ba chila one day. Leka che nisebenzele pa kuba chila,” he vowed.
“The best thing to do in the Zambian content creation industry is to be unique. You can watch other content creators and get inspired but don’t be too inspired, pa last uzakopela,” he said on his plan to be better than them.
Ndine Emma went on to say that he researched, watched news, switched styles, did not repeat characters, and kept evolving to stay unique and relevant — and now, is he better than them?
