Stop hate on Hichilema, or great-grandchildren will urinate on our graves — Central Province PS

CENTRAL Province Permanent Secretary Dr. Milner Mwanakampwe says Zambians risk leaving behind a legacy that their great-grandchildren will condemn if selfish interests continue to take precedence over national interest.

Dr. Mwanakampwe says Zambia belongs to everyone and that no individual should believe that the country should only be led by them.

He has questioned why some people would wish harm on whoever is in leadership simply because they are not the ones in power

“Why should another person feel that if it is not me, I must kill the one that is there?” he said.

Dr. Mwanakampwe says freedoms are not shrinking under the current administration, arguing that Zambia experienced more severe restrictions in the past.

He cited the closure of television stations, allegations of people being subjected to violence, reports of gassing incidents and the alleged takeover of markets and bus stations by political cadres

He said the situation had also affected the ability of local authorities to collect revenue

Dr. Mwanakampwe said the financial position of councils such as Lusaka City Council, Kabwe Municipal Council and Chibombo Town Council should be considered when assessing the changes that have taken place.

“So, my concluding remarks are that, let us not trivialize national interest for the sake of personal interest.

“Because our children’s children, if we do not change the narrative, where we think that it can only be me, if it is not me, it should never be Mr. Hichilema, then our children’s children will urinate on our graves,” Dr. Mwanakampwe said this during a Prime Television program dubbed, Matters Arising.
