The North-Western Water Supply and Sanitation Company limited (NWWSSC) has started laying water pipes in Mushitala area of Solwezi District following the completion of excavation works under the Performance for Results (PforR) project.

The World Bank funded initiative is aimed at strengthening water supply infrastructure, expanding service coverage, improving water quality and access to reliable and sustainable water services across North-western province.

NWWSSC Manager for Corporate Planning James Phiri says the PforR project is a five year project which is expected to benefit more than 200,000 people across the province.

 

“The wider programme is expected to benefit more than 200,000 across Northwestern province through increased access to clean, safe and reliable water services,” Mr Phiri said.

Mr Phiri told the media in Solwezi that the project is this year being implemented in Solwezi and Mwinilunga districts with Mushitala area among the benefiting communities.

He said the Mushitala water network extension works is being implemented at a cost of K4.2 million with one thousand connections expected to be done benefitting about 6,000 people and that the project will take approximately six months to complete.

“The Mushitala water network extension works commenced on 24th August 2026, and are expected to take approximately six months to complete. We urge residents, motorists and other road users to exercise caution around construction areas and cooperate with project teams to facilitate the smooth implementation of the works,” Mr Phiri said.
