President Hakainde Hichilema has directed the immediate recruitment of volunteer health workers who attended a community engagement in Mporokoso District.

The President said the volunteers would be employed in recognition of their dedication and commitment to providing healthcare services to the community.

He said the list of volunteer health workers presented to him would be acted upon without delay.

Speaking during a public engagement at Bulangililo Grounds in Mporokoso District, President Hichilema also pledged that works on the Mporokoso–Kawambwa Road and the Mporokoso–Kaputa–Mununga Road would be undertaken if he is re-elected in the August 13 General Election.

He said the road projects are intended to improve connectivity and facilitate the movement of people, goods and essential services.

President Hichilema further noted that Mporokoso District has benefited from several Government development programmes, including the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), the Social Cash Transfer Programme and the Free Education Policy.

He said Government remains committed to implementing development programmes equitably across all parts of the country.

The President also announced that Government would increase the allocation of fertiliser and other farming inputs under the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP) to support agricultural production.

He added that more than 2.5 million children have returned to school under the Free Education Policy, including over 4,000 learners in Mporokoso District.

President Hichilema further encouraged young people who are still seeking employment not to lose hope, saying more job opportunities would be created if his administration is given another term in office.

He urged residents of Mporokoso to vote for the UPND in the August 13 General Election to enable the Government to continue implementing its development agenda.

The community engagement was attended by Chief Muporokoso of Mporokoso District.
