Kafue District Health Director Ikasaya Ikasaya says   the district has 78 percent availability of essential drugs, while vaccines stand at 94 percent and tuberculosis (TB) and HIV commodities are at 100 percent.

Dr Ikasaya said the district has maintained availability of key health commodities, particularly those supporting TB and HIV services.

“As Kafue District, in terms of drugs, we are at 78 percent essential drugs, 94 percent vaccines, and for HIV and TB, we are at 100 percent,” said Dr Ikasaya.

He noted that the figures reflect the current availability of medicines and health commodities in the district.

Dr Ikasaya said the district remains committed to ensuring that health facilities have adequate supplies to support healthcare service delivery to patients.

“We are continuing to monitor the availability of medicines and health commodities in our health facilities,” he said.

He stated that his office will continue monitoring medicine stocks to ensure the sustained availability of essential medicines and other health commodities across health facilities in the District.

Meanwhile, Dr Ikasaya has disclosed that the district has recorded a decrease in malaria cases, from 14.4 percent in the first quarter to 11.84 percent in the second quarter of 2026.

He stated that the Department of Health is working hard to ensure that malaria cases are reduced further.

“We have also recorded a decrease in malaria cases from 14.4 percent in quarter one to 11.84 percent in the second quarter of 2026, and we are optimistic of recording a further decrease,” said Dr Ikasaya.
