Zambia : Hero Stadium Turf Protector Installed

The Ministry of Youth, Sport, and Arts has confirmed the installation of the turf protector at the Presidential Inauguration venue, Heroes Stadium.

The Ministry’s Principal Public Relations Officer, Bobby Ng’andu, highlighted that the protector is intended to safeguard and extend the lifespan of the turf, which was purchased earlier at a cost of $1.4 million.

He made these remarks in an interview  the media during the installation earlier this morning.

Mr Ng’andu has since urged members of the public scheduled to attend the inauguration tomorrow to take ownership by refraining from vandalising any property at the venue.

“I can safely confirm today that the turf protector is in place, and people are working around the clock to ensure everything is in order,” he said.

He added that the turf came at a significant cost and must be protected to ensure its durability, noting that there are other future activities planned for the stadium beyond tomorrow’s inauguration.

Mr Ng’andu also emphasised that tomorrow is a big day for the country, and people should not only enjoy the inauguration but also safeguard the infrastructure jealously.

He further commended other line ministries and members of the organising committee for working in unison towards tomorrow’s event.

The venue is now ready for the presidential inauguration ceremony for President-elect Hakainde Hichilema.
