NORTH-WESTERN Province Permanent Secretary Grandson Katambi has called on the local contractors entrusted with donor funded infrastructure projects to deliver quality works.

Colonel Katambi (retired), says local contractors have a tendency of delivering shoddy and sometimes abandoning works after being paid for the projects.

He said this when a delegation from UNICEF under  the Equal Chances for Human Development (EC4HD)programme paid a courtesy call on him in Solwezi today.

Col. Katambi disclosed that President Hakainde Hichilema has placed emphasis on empowering local contractors stating that they must reciprocate by delivering quality projects that will stand a taste of time and benefit the intended people.

Speaking earlier, UNICEF Delegation Leader, Rodgers Banda stated that the organization is constructing 19 early childhood education centres in five selected districts of Northwestern Province focusing on early childhood development.
