Position: Operations Manager
Location: Zambia
Reporting to: Chief Operating Officer

J&J Transport Zambia Ltd is seeking experienced and results-driven Operations Managers to lead and optimize our transport and logistics operations across the SADC region.
This strategic leadership role is responsible for managing a large fleet of heavy-duty vehicles, leading multidisciplinary teams, strengthening customer relationships, and ensuring operational excellence, compliance, and profitability.
The successful candidate will be a proactive leader with extensive cross-border transport experience, strong commercial acumen, and a proven ability to drive business growth through efficient fleet management and exceptional service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage all fleet and operational activities to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective service delivery.
Drive customer retention and business growth through strong stakeholder engagement and service excellence.
Oversee cross-border operations and coordinate with regional representatives across the SADC region.
Ensure compliance with statutory, customs, insurance, licensing, and company requirements.
Manage operational performance, reporting, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Collaborate with Finance, HR, Legal, and Documentation departments to support seamless operations.
Develop, mentor, and lead high-performing teams while promoting accountability and operational excellence.
Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes, turnaround times, and overall business performance.


Requirements:

Degree or Diploma in Logistics, Transport Management, Supply Chain, or a related field.
Minimum 10 years’ senior management experience within transport and logistics.
Strong knowledge of cross-border transportation and customs procedures within the SADC region.
Proven experience managing large fleets and leading operational teams.
Sound commercial, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management capabilities.
Professional Membership: Valid practicing certificate and membership with relevant bodies (ZCILT).
