MY PARTY NRPUP HAS SUBMITTED A LIST OF NOMINATED MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT, SAYS PARTY PRESIDENT EZRA TEMBO

National Reform and Progressive United Party (NRPUP) President Ezra Tembo says the party has already submitted its list of nominees for the proportional representation seats, moving ahead of former presidential candidate Brian Mundubile.

Mr Tembo says the party’s list was prepared earlier and submitted by the NRPUP Secretary-General, with no subsequent changes.

NRPUP served as the special purpose vehicle for the Tonse Alliance, which sponsored Mundubile as its presidential candidate in the August 13, 2026 General Elections.

However, following Mundubile’s defeat in the presidential election, NRPUP has since distanced itself from both Mundubile and the Tonse Alliance, opting to proceed with its own nominated Members of Parliament.

Speaking in an interview on Monday, Tembo clarified that the selection of nominees was undertaken by the party, rather than by him personally.

The development comes amid heightened attention surrounding the composition of the next Parliament and the political future of the Tonse Alliance following the 2026 elections.
