The Chairman of the Zambia Non-communicable Diseases Alliance, Fastone Goma, has remembered former Vice President Guy Scott who passed away last week Wednesday at age 82 for his significant contribution to public health.

Professor Goma He noted that Dr Scott was a staunch advocate of the Ministry of Health’s 2013 to 2016 Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) Strategic Plan.

Prof. Goma expressed that Dr Scott was instrumental in advocating and pushing for the implementation of the Strategic Plan in the country, emphasising that it remains the only strategic plan the Ministry of Health has ever had.

He made these remarks while addressing the media shortly after signing the book of condolence at Belvedere Lodge in Lusaka today.

Professor Goma expressed that Dr Scott meant a lot to the Alliance, particularly as he started his advocacy for NCDs when he was a Member of Parliament for Lusaka Central.

“He was among those who stood out and walked the talk in advocating for the health and well-being of Zambians,” Professor Goma said.

And speaking shortly after offering his condolence message to the Widow, Charlotte Scott, Rainbow Party Leader, Winter Kabimba recognised Dr Scott not only as a political companion but as a loyal citizen that cherished the country.

Dr Kabimba emphasised the love Dr Scott had for Zambia, noting that he truly served the nation with loyalty.

Scores of people from all walks of life continue to flock Belvedere Lodge to offer their condolences to former Vice President Guy Scott’s family.
