Job Description Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit a highly committed employee for the position of Laboratory Technician – LEP (Fixed Term) to join the Lumwana Expansion Project Team. Your duties will include but are not limited to the following: Conduct pathological laboratory procedures as required by clinic and occupational health staff, including specimen collection, processing, analysis, and the operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment. Participate in external quality assessment (EQA) programmes and implement internal quality control (IQC) measures to ensure accuracy, reliability, and compliance with laboratory standards. Manage laboratory supplies and consumables, maintain inventory levels, and ensure proper control of laboratory data, documentation, and records. Prepare, standardise, and maintain laboratory reagents in accordance with established protocols and quality standards. Accountable for the completion of all tasks identified in the management Operating System (MOS) to the specified quality and timelines as assigned to the role. Develop, implement, and maintain safe work procedures and promote high safety and health awareness. Promote and comply with the company’s Occupational Health and Safety Policy. Be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the team Ensure appropriate facilities, procedures and workforce competence to achieve legal compliance, incident prevention and the achievement of tasks in an environmentally sustainable manner. Develop continuous improvement targets for the function and drive and measure the achievements of these targets. Ensure the development and maintenance of up-to-date job procedures for all tasks performed within the team. To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements: Grade 12 certificate Diploma in Biomedical Science Minimum Three (3) years’ working experience. Paid up member of the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ) Must have excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Understanding of all relevant legislation affecting the employment and safety of persons in the mining industry in Zambia. proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
