 Zambia’s first indigenous Commander of the Zambia Air Force, Lieutenant General Peter Zuze (Retired) has died.

Mourning the death of Lt. Gen Zuze, Ministry of Defence Permanent Secretary Maambo Haamaundu described him as a gallant airman who distinguished himself in the Air Force.

This was contained in a statement issued to ZANIS.

“We join the Zambia Air Force Commander Lt Gen Oscar Nyoni, officers, airmen and women in sending our condolences to the Zuze family,” Mr Haamaundu stated.

During his distinguished career, Lt Gen Zuze served as Commander of the Zambia Air Force from 1972 to 1976 and as Deputy Chief of the Zambia Defence Force under General Kingsley Chinkuli from 1976 to 1977.

Lt Gen Zuze later succeeded General Chinkuli as Chief of the Defence Force from 1977 to 1978 when he retired.
