Stakeholders in Chama District of Eastern Province have expressed satisfaction with the ongoing verification of ballot papers and account forms used during the August 13, 2026 General Elections.

The stakeholders participating in the exercise have commended the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) for conducting the process in a transparent and orderly manner.

Speaking in an interview with the media, Gwambi Botha, who represented Chama South Constituency Independent Candidate Daniel Phiri, said no queries had so far been raised during the exercise.

“I commend ECZ staff for the smooth manner in which the verification process is being conducted. As stakeholders, we are being given an opportunity to observe and follow the exercise closely,” Mr Botha said.

Meanwhile, Jairos Mtonga, representing the Socialist Party, also commended the ECZ for the manner in which the verification exercise was progressing.

Mr Mtonga said the process was being conducted satisfactorily and that all stakeholders were being given an opportunity to actively participate.

And Gilbert Manda, who represented independent candidates in Chama South Constituency, including Independent Candidate Jerrix Nkhata, who emerged victorious, said the verification exercise was being conducted systematically.

“Stakeholders are able to freely raise concerns where necessary,” he said.
