The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) in Kaoma District has commenced the verification of Ballot Paper Account Forms for the National Assembly and local government elections held during the August 13, 2026 General Election.
The two-day exercise is aimed at auditing and reconciling all ballot papers received, issued, used, unused and spoilt during the elections to ensure accountability and accuracy in the management of election materials.
Kaoma District Electoral Officer Kate Mukonde said the verification exercise is an important part of the Commission’s post-election processes and is being conducted transparently in the presence of stakeholders.
Ms Mukonde said the exercise provides an opportunity for stakeholders to verify the figures recorded on the Ballot Paper Account Forms against the ballot papers and other relevant election materials.
“We are counting the ballot papers which were issued to Presiding Officers to see what was used, unused and spoilt for each polling station for the elections, starting with the National Assembly, Council Chairperson and Councillors’ elections,” she said.
Stakeholders from various political parties, the media and other interested parties attended the exercise to witness the process.
