LAVROV WARNS POLAND, CITES RUSSIA’S MILITARY DOCTRINE

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has urged Poland to study Russia’s military doctrine, in remarks referring to Moscow’s nuclear policy.

“We have a doctrine… a military doctrine that the president has cited repeatedly. I invite you to study the provisions of this extremely important document,” Lavrov said.

His comments came in response to a question about Poland’s plans to produce Patriot missiles domestically and the circumstances under which deeper European involvement in the Ukraine conflict could lead to a direct military response from Moscow.

Lavrov’s reference to Russia’s military doctrine was widely interpreted as a warning amid growing tensions between Moscow, Warsaw and NATO.
