Zambian football fans will be able to watch the Chipolopolo’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Togo live on ZNBC TV1 today, Tuesday, September 29, with the national broadcaster adjusting its programming schedule to accommodate the highly anticipated match.

The Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) announced the programming adjustment in a notice issued by Head of Corporate Affairs Yvette Chanda, confirming that the corporation will provide live television coverage of the Group I 2027 AFCON qualifier.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 18:00 hours at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, with Zambia hosting Togo in the second match of the qualifying campaign. The fixture schedule also confirms the 18:00 kickoff in Zambia.

According to ZNBC, the decision to televise the match has required changes to the station’s normal TV1 programming schedule.

The main news bulletin, which would ordinarily run at its usual time, has been moved to 20:30 hours, while the “Win Big Game Show” will now be broadcast at 22:00 hours.

ZNBC apologised to viewers for any inconvenience caused by the changes.

The broadcaster had previously confirmed that it would televise Zambia’s home matches in the 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign after stating that it had not acquired broadcast rights for the team’s away fixtures. The corporation specifically announced that the Zambia-Togo match would be the first home qualifier covered live, with subsequent home matches against Burundi and Algeria also scheduled for live coverage.

The decision will come as welcome news to supporters who are unable to attend the match at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, giving fans across Zambia an opportunity to follow the Chipolopolo from home.

The match is particularly important for Zambia as the team looks to strengthen its position in the AFCON qualifying campaign. Interim coach George Lwandamina has described the Togo encounter as an opportunity for Zambia to revive its campaign, while captain Fashion Sakala has called for a strong performance from the team.

Togo, meanwhile, completed its final training session at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Monday ahead of the Group I encounter.

For supporters planning to watch from home, ZNBC TV1 will carry the live transmission, with kickoff set for 18:00 hours.

The broadcaster’s schedule adjustment means the Zambia-Togo qualifier will take centre stage on TV1 before the main news and “Win Big Game Show” take over later in the evening.
