Vice President Mutale Nalumango has laid out a series of campaign promises to the people of Chifunabuli District, urging them to re-elect the United Party for National Development (UPND) on 13th August to ensure these commitments are fulfilled.

Mrs Nalumango promised that the free education policy would continue, citing its impact so far in the district.

“Your royal highnesses, the free education policy here in Chifunabuli District has since its introduction for instance brought 400 pupils back to school,” she said.

She further backed this promise with data from Chifunabuli District Education Standards Officer, Grace Kambobe, who reported that learner enrolment has surged from 26,522 in 2021 to 41,732 currently, with 403 teachers recruited and many schools benefiting from the school feeding programme and the Keeping Girls in School initiative.

The Vice President promised that the construction of the Musaila – Lubwe – Kasaba Road to bituminous standard is already underway, with contractors on site — a project she said the UPND had responded to after calls from the community.

Mrs Nalumango promised the continuation of various developmental programmes across the country, including the enhanced Constituency Development Fund (CDF), as acknowledged by the Chifunabuli Pastors Fellowship.

Addressing civil servants, she promised that effective delivery of development would be achieved if public servants work as a unified unit with the government and remain in sync with government policy to guarantee smooth implementation of programmes.

The Vice President also promised to push for national production targets, encouraging civil servants to take up farming to boost food security and income, citing the government’s goal to increase maize output to 10 million tonnes and soya beans to three million tonnes.

She further promised continued support for education infrastructure, with Lubwe Secondary Boarding School Headteacher, Misheck Chirwa, thanking the government through the Vice President for a fully-fledged boarding secondary school already delivered in Mwewa chiefdom.

Mrs Nalumango stated that continuity of all these developmental projects hinges on the electorate turning out to re-elect the UPND on 13th August.

Traditional leaders, including Chief Chitembo, have already hailed the government for the free education policy and the roadworks, while the Pastors Fellowship, through Chairperson Dominic Mubanga, said the clergy stands ready as partners in development and would remain steadfast in prayer for government as they continue to administer critical development across the country.
