Speaking in Liliachi today during a community engagement with residents of Nalolo, the President said he is familiar with the transport challenges faced by residents connecting the East Bank to the West Bank due to the poor road network.
“I have been here many times, especially when I was in the opposition, and I have seen how difficult it is for our people to reach here,” President Hichilema said.
“We shall therefore ensure that the Kalabo-Kalongola road is worked on, through to Matebele, so that our people can move with ease’’, he said.
President Hichilema also pledged to improve mobile network coverage in both the East and West Bank.
“I am aware that network connectivity is a challenge here. Once you vote for us in the forthcoming General Elections, we shall work on communication towers to ensure clear network coverage,” he said.
In the health sector, President Hichilema reiterated the government’s commitment to complete the Nalolo District Hospital and equip it with modern facilities so that it becomes a fully-fledged referral facility for the district.
The President further urged Nalolo residents to vote for him and all UPND candidates to ensure continued development in the area.
President Hichilema further added that the government will enroll more farmers on the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP) and ensure that farmers who sell maize to the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) are paid through mobile money within 48 hours.
The Head of State is in Western Province for community engagements in the districts which he did not visit during his last tour of the province.
