Kafue police identified the deceased as Juliet Tafara Mulenga, 26, of Kafue, driver of a Toyota Mark X registration BLC 7651; Chipo Sikanwe, 30, of Shikoswe, Kafue; and Kasone Sakahande, 23, of Kafue. Both Sikanwe and Sakahande were passengers in the Mark X. Police said the three were pronounced dead on arrival at Kafue District General Hospital. Their bodies have been deposited in the mortuary pending postmortem. The accident occurred around 21:45 on Sept. 13, according to a statement issued Sunday by Zambia Police Service Assistant Public Relations Officer Timothy Malumo. Police said the Mark X was improperly overtaking when it struck a Toyota Corolla registration ABC 5154 driven by Ian Kaluba, 36, of Zambia Compound, Kafue. The Mark X then lost control and collided head-on with a Toyota Hilux registration BAL 1035 driven by Vincent Zulu of Kafue. Kaluba escaped unhurt. Zulu and a passenger in the Hilux sustained minor injuries and were treated and discharged. Police urged motorists to avoid improper overtaking and to observe traffic rules.Engage with this story
