CENTRAL Province Permanent Secretary Milner Mwanakampwe has commended the World Bank for supporting local councils to undertake capital projects through the Zambia Devolution Support Programme.

Dr Mwanakampwe said the province has benefited from the construction of truck parks, water schemes and a bus station under the programme, which aims to strengthen financing, institutional performance and accountability of local authorities.

He said this when a World Bank team led by Senior Public Sector Specialist Lobna Ahmed paid a courtesy call on him.

Dr Mwanakampwe noted that the Zambia Devolution programme has facilitated the construction of truck parks in Chitambo, Kapiri Mposhi and Chibombo districts.

And World Bank Senior Public Sector Specialist Lobna Ahmed disclosed that the institution has partnered with the Ministry of Local Government to provide councils with funding for capital projects through structured frameworks.
