United Party for National Development (UPND) Candidate, Charles Mulenga has retained the Luanshya Mayoral seat after beating his closest opponent Bentry Chisa in the August 13, 2026 General Elections.
Mr Mulenga polled 26, 493 Votes beating his closest rival, Bentry Chisha of National Restoration Party for Unity and Progress ( NRPUP), who obtained 24,188 votes.
A total of 1,085 were rejected as invalid and 58, 152 total votes were cast.
Mulenga Chakulya of the Resolute Party came third with 3,554 votes.
Luanshya District Returning Officer, Collins Ndelema declared Mr Mulenga duly elected Mayor of Luanshya after completion of the consolidation and verification of results at the district totaling centre at the Luanshya Civic Centre.
The declaration brings Mr Mulenga back to the mayoral office for another term, having served as Luanshya Mayor following his election in 2021.
The announcement marks the completion of counting, verification and consolidation of electoral results at the district totaling centre.
The process, which started following the close of polls on August 13, involved the receipt, verification and consolidation of results from polling stations across the district.
Political party agents, election monitors, observers and other accredited stakeholders witnessed the electoral process at the totaling centre.
