The Chama Subordinate Court has sentenced two Ministry of Health employees to five years’ imprisonment with hard labour for theft by public servant, contrary to Sections 277 and 272 of the Penal Code, Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

The convicts, Chiulo Mwandila and Lingford Nyimbili, were jointly charged with stealing 17 packs of Artemether Lumefantrine (Coartem 24), valued at K12,750 and belonging to the Government of the of Zambia.

The offence was committed on unknown dates between January 1 and February 23, 2026, at Nthonhko Rural Health Post in Chama District, Eastern Province.

The court heard that the two, who were employed as security guards at the health facility, stole the drugs which had come into their possession by virtue of their employment.

Resident Magistrate Elvis Chilufya found the duo guilty and sentenced each of them to five years’ imprisonment with hard labour.

Meanwhile, the same court has committed 42-year-old Isaac Kaluba to the High Court for sentencing after finding him guilty of incest.

The particulars of the offence state that Kaluba, on unknown dates between January 1, 2023 and October 24, 2025, at Chama District in Eastern Province, had unlawful carnal knowledge of his niece.
