THERE IS NO ISSUE IN THECOUNTRY, LET US MOVE ON – ELECTIONS ARE OVER, SAYS PRESIDENT HICHILEMA

President Hakainde Hichilema says there is a hullabaloo being created that there is a crisis in Zambia post-Augustin 13 general election.

And President Hichilema has warned all citizens suspected to have committed a crime will be arrested no matter how old one is.

Speaking at State House this afternoon during the swearing-in ceremony of newly appointed deputy Auditor General in charge of Audit Division Patricia Malaila, President Hichilema complained that an impression is being created that there is a political crisis in Zambia after the August 13 general election.

The President says the impression that the country is in a crisis is amplified through the use of social media platforms.

“Let us love our country. Let us not do things that damage our country consciously. I scan social media – I look at the stuff that is thrown in there, you don’t realise what you’re doing. You’re scaring off investors who we have worked so hard to attract,” President Hichilema says.

“…there is no issue in this country. We have had an election; Zambians voted, decisions are made by Zambians [and] we move on. What is hullabaloo; creating a crisis where there is none? What is it about? Selfish interests…”

Hichilema says some people believe that only they should rule this country.

In the aftermath of the August general election, Zambia has been rocked in a stand-off that has seen President Hichilema’s main rival Brian Mundubile and his running mate Makebi Zulu accused of organizing a militia with an intention to oust President Hichilema using force.

Mundubile and Zulu remain incarcerated charged with treason. Today, the duo appeared before the Solwezi Magistrates court charged with allegedly seditious practices, a totally new charge.

In a military raid at a compound where Mundubile was meeting his top lieutenants on August 14 on Kudu road in Lusaka, state security operatives shot and killed former minister Mutotwe Kafwaya while dozens of other people including retired Anglican bishop and UNIP president Trevor Mwamba

And President Hichilema said anyone who breaks the law will be arrested despite their age.

“Let’s stay with the law. You veer off the law, don’t blame anybody. It doesn’t matter how old you are, the law does recognize age; it recognizes a wrong doer,” said Hichilema.

“You veer off the law, don’t complain. When the long arm of the law visits you, don’t complain and you don’t call the law names through individuals.
