Chanda proposes an eight-year one-term for President

‘BILLIONAIRE’ UPPZ president, who is also a UPND Alliance partner, says instead of removing the Presidential term limit, the Constitution should be amended to introduce a single eight-year term for the Head of State.

He suggests that further amendments to the Republican Constitution should introduce a system where, after a President completes the first term, citizens would vote YES or NO on whether that President should be eligible to contest for office again.

He says this approach would help the country save money while giving the government more time to focus on development.

“Have heard so much on Presidential Term Limits. This is my submission. Elect a President for a single eight-year term.

“For the elected president to be eligible to stand again, let people have a YES/NO vote first. He or she must get 51% of the vote then allowed to stand. We save money and have time for developmental projects,” he opines.
