UPND aspiring Chambishi Member of Parliament Rashida Mulenga has thanked residents of Kalulushi District for their support and pledged to serve the new constituency with humility and commitment.
Mulenga said the confidence and love shown by the people of Kalulushi since she began her political journey have been a source of strength.
“It is now my duty and honour to serve the people of Chambishi as an aspiring Member of Parliament for this newly created constituency,” she said. “I look forward to serving and delivering sustainable development under the leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema.”
Mulenga acknowledged that her political path had taken a different direction from what many expected, but said her commitment to serve the people remains unchanged.
She cited her tenure as Mayor of Kalulushi from 2016 to 2021, during which she worked to ensure both Kalulushi and Chambishi received equal attention in development planning and service delivery as one district.
“Following these developments, I have prayed and sought God’s guidance. I understand the journey will not be easy, but I believe this is where we are meant to be,” she stated.
Mulenga said she enters the race with humility and respect, with a clear understanding of the responsibility ahead.
“My desire is simple: to work with the people, listen to the people, and fight for development, dignity, and progress for Chambishi Constituency,” she said.
She urged residents to move forward in unity and hope, building on the foundation already established.
Mulenga had applied for UPND adoption in Kalulushi but the party gave her Chambishi, whilst her competitor Kampamba Mulenga got Kalulushi also under the UPND.
