President of Malawi Arthur Peter Mutharika joins in the congratulatory messages for President elect Hakainde Hichilema on his re-election for his second term.

In a statement issued to the media, Professor Mutharika highlighted that President-elect Hichilema’s resounding victory is a clear reflection of the confidence the people of Zambia have placed in his leadership.

The Malawian Head of State highlights that the re-election is as a result of the Zambian people’s trust in President Hichilema’s vision for the country’s continued progress, peace and prosperity.

He wished President Hichilema every success as he embarks on the renewed mandate.

“The First Lady and I extend our congratulations to my brother, Hakainde Hichilema, President-elect of Zambia, on the occasion of his re-election in last week’s general election,” he said.

Professor Mutharika further noted that he looks forward to the strengthening of the bonds of friendship as well as cooperation between Malawi and Zambia.
