President Hakainde Hichilema leads the 2026 presidential election with 2,057,986 votes out of 161 reported constituencies.

Brian Mundubile of the National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Restoration Party (NRPUP) trails with 1,190,920 votes, followed by other candidates across the counted districts.

The media reports that during the update of the results in Lusaka today, Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) Chairperson, Mwangala Zaloumis further indicated that Citizens First leader Harry Kalaba has 13,394 votes, while Kelvin Bwalya of Zambia Must Prosper (ZMP) has obtained 12, 120 votes.

She added that Fred M’membe of the Socialist Party garnered 8, 022 votes, while Independent candidate Given Katuta received 4, 984 votes.

Mrs  Zaloumis also stated that Movement for Economic Emancipation (MEE) candidate Given Chansa polled 4, 719 votes, and Brian Mushimba of the Organised People’s Party (OPP) obtained 3, 760 votes.

Others include Richard Silumbe of the Leadership Movement with 2, 338 votes, Ackim Njobvu of the Democratic Union with 1, 926 votes, and Howard Kunda of the Zambia Wake Up Party (ZAWAP) with 1,903 votes.

New Focus Party President Richwell Sianunene received 1,344 votes, while Christian Democratic Party President Daniel Pule secured 893 votes.

The 161 constituencies recorded 5, 874, 765 registered voters, of which 3, 304, 309 valid votes were cast.

Ms Zaloumis announced that a total of 89, 789 votes were rejected, bringing the overall votes cast to 3, 394, 098 representing 57. 77 percent turnout.

Meanwhile, ECZ Chief Electoral Officer Brown Kasaro declared that the next update on results will be released today at 16 hours.
