President Hakainde Hichilema has assured residents of Shantumbu in Lusaka province of continued development.

Speaking when he addressed scores of residents at Shantumbu primary ground, President Hichilema said the government intends to build a modern market in the area.

He said the construction of a modern market will allow traders and farmers in Shantumbu to trade in a decent facility.

President Hichilema said he is aware that the area has no modern market.

He also indicated that the government plans on constructing a modern boarding school, in order to enable children in the area access free education.

The Head of State said the desire of the government is to give every child an opportunity to access free education.

He said the government will continue with its agenda of building schools across the country.

And President Hichilema told the people of Shantumbu to rally behind the UPND by voting for them in the August 13 polls.

Meanwhile President Hichilema has promised the people of Shantumbu improved access to water supply, in order to cushion the current challenges being faced in the area.

President Hichilema said his administration, once given a second chance in office, will give them a mandate to fix the issue of water supply in the area.

The Head of State further reassured Shantumbu residents of working on the feeder roads, reminding that the government has already started putting a tarred road in the area.

He said the tarmac is the first to be put in Shantumbu, adding that the government will do more to improve the state of road infrastructure in the area.

“Your vote will allow us to bring water and also improve feeder roads here in Shantumbu and Kafue district,” he said.
