The National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity—NRPUP—has conceded defeat in the 2026 General Election.
The party has also congratulated President Hakainde Hichilema and the United Party for National Development—UPND—on their victory.
Speaking at a media briefing, NRPUP President Ezra Tembo said the party accepts the outcome of the election and respects the will of the people.
Mr. Tembo said the party will now focus on its role as the official opposition by providing checks and balances to promote accountability and good governance.
He has called on Zambians to give President Hichilema and the UPND space to govern, saying the election is over and the country must now focus on development.
Mr. Tembo said NRPUP will engage the government through the National Assembly and other democratic platforms while ensuring that its members uphold democratic principles.
