UPND Alliance Partner Edwin Lifwekelo says the Zambian people stand to benefit from the good policies being implemented by the government under President-elect Hakainde Hichilema.
Mr Lifwekelo says Zambia is in safe hands under the leadership of President – elect Hichilema, who has laid a strong foundation for economic recovery and growth.
Speaking on a ZNBC election update programme monitored by ZANIS in Lusaka today, Mr Lifwekelo said the priority of the new dawn administration is now to grow the economy and address the high cost of living allegedly affecting the people.
He said this can only be achieved through increased production in key sectors such as agriculture, energy, construction and manufacturing among others.
ZANIS reports that Mr Lifwekelo stressed that increased CDF allocation will enable communities to implement more developmental projects, particularly in the health and education sectors.
He said the government has also made progress in addressing unemployment and improving conditions for teachers and health workers.
Mr Lifwekelo implored the Zambian people to work together and support President- elect Hichilema as the government enters the next phase of implementing its development agenda.
And Mr Lifwekelo has charged that the government has made significant progress in reducing load shedding, describing the development as an indication that measures being implemented in the energy sector are bearing fruit.
He explained that the government inherited an economy that was in critical condition in the previous PF regime and had to undertake strategic measures, including debt restructuring, to restore macro-economic stability.
He said the country’s improved macro-economic stability, debt restructuring and increased reserves provide a foundation for economic growth in the next five year period.
The UPND sympathiser said resources saved through debt restructuring are now being channeled towards job creation programmes as well as Social Cash Transfer and increased Constituency Development Fund (CDF) allocations.
