🇿🇲 BRIEFING | Mundubile Says Campaign Raises K860,000 in 24 Hours, K2.8 Million More Pledged

NRPUP presidential candidate Brian Mundubile says his newly launched public fundraising campaign has raised more than K860,000 in cash donations within its first 24 hours, with an additional K2.8 million pledged by supporters.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Mr Mundubile described the response as an unprecedented endorsement of what he called a “people-driven” presidential campaign, saying the contributions had come from supporters across Zambia and the diaspora.

According to the opposition leader, the campaign fundraising platform attracted donations and pledges from a broad cross-section of society, including marketeers, farmers, transport operators, miners, nurses, teachers, students, council workers, business owners, landlords, tenants, doctors, security guards and members of the Zambian diaspora.

Mr Mundubile thanked supporters for what he termed a historic show of confidence in his presidential bid, saying the campaign belongs to ordinary Zambians rather than a few financiers.

“Within 24 hours, we have received over K860,000 in financial donations. In addition, our campaign fundraising team has recorded K2.8 million in campaign financial pledges,” he said.

He urged supporters to continue making voluntary contributions through the campaign’s online fundraising platform while encouraging them to share the initiative with friends, families and colleagues.

The fundraising update comes as Zambia enters the final stretch of the campaign period ahead of the August 13 General Election, with political parties intensifying mobilisation efforts across the country. While public fundraising remains relatively uncommon in Zambian presidential politics, the NRPUP says its donation drive is intended to demonstrate broad citizen participation in financing the campaign.

The figures announced by Mr Mundubile are claims made by his campaign and have not been independently verified by The People’s Brief.
