A 68-year-old woman of Chongwe district has died after being hit by a motorbike along Great East Road.

Confirming the incident, Zambia Police Service Assistant Public Relations Officer, Timothy Malumo, identified the deceased as Lydia Banda.

Mr Malumo said the accident occurred on 15th September, 2026 at around 15:00 hours.

He explained that Ms Banda was attempting to cross the Great East Road near Chongwe Zambia National Service (ZNS) Camp when she met her fate.

“Ms. Banda was rushed to Chongwe district hospital where she was pronounced dead upon arrival,” Mr Malumo said.
