FORMER United Party for National Development (UPND) North-Western Province Chairperson, Webster Makondo has called on citizens to respect the Office of the Republican President and uphold national values in their public discourse.
Dr Makondo, who is also a former member of the UPND National Management Committee and a founding member of the party, said citizens should refrain from using insulting and abusive language against the Head of State on social media and other platforms.
Dr Makondo observed that Zambia’s identity as a Christian nation calls for citizens to uphold values of respect, tolerance and responsible conduct.
He expressed concern over what he described as the misuse of social media by some young people to circulate what he considers hateful or insulting content targeting the President.
