Congratulatory messages from across Africa and the rest of the world have continued to pour in for President-elect Hakainde Hichilema following his re-election as President of the Republic of Zambia.

Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa is the latest world leader to congratulate Mr Hichilema on his victory in the August 13, 2026 general elections.

President Mnangagwa expressed confidence that under President Hichilema’s stewardship, Zambia will continue to enjoy peace, stability, prosperity and sustainable development.

President Hakainde Hichilema was declared winner on August 17, 2026, after defeating 12 other candidates in the just ended general elections.
