Kafue District Commissioner Maurice Hikapulwe has reaffirmed government’s commitment to ensuring that farmers delivering maize to the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) are paid without delay.

Mr Hikapulwe said farmers who have so far delivered their maize to FRA satellite depots are receiving payments promptly.

“Government is committed to ensuring that our farmers are paid on time for the maize they are delivering to the Food Reserve Agency. Farmers should therefore continue taking their produce to the designated FRA buying centers,” he said.

He noted that timely payment is important in helping farmers meet their financial obligations and prepare for the next farming season.

Mr Hikapulwe encouraged farmers in the district to take advantage of the FRA maize marketing season by delivering their produce to designated depots, and urged them to follow the required procedures to ensure the payment process runs smoothly.

He added that the government will continue monitoring the maize marketing exercise in the district to ensure the payment process remains smooth and timely.

“We want our farmers to benefit from their hard work, and that is why the government is making every effort to ensure that the payment process is smooth and timely. Farmers should have confidence in the process and continue delivering their maize,” he said.
