Government has constructed a one-by-three classroom block, modern ablution block and  installed a water reticulation system at Chituba Primary School in Milenge District at a cost of over K2.9 million under the 2025 Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

 Chituba Primary School Headteacher, Gilbert Mutuna, says the development is expected to ease pressure on classroom space and improve sanitation at the school.

Mr Mutuna observed that the classroom block, is yet to be commissioned but is expected to ease pressure on classroom space and allow the school to increase enrolment.

He said the school previously had only a one-by-two classroom block and was forced to use a makeshift classroom to supplement the available learning space.

Mr Mutuna said the limited classroom space affected the number of pupils, the school could accommodate.

“Last time our enrolment levels were around 400, but now with this 1×3 classroom block we expect it to go up to about 600 pupils,” he said.

Mr Mutuna said the improved water supply has also benefited the school and the surrounding community following the installation of a 10,000-litre water tank and water reticulation system.

“We have received a 10,000-litre capacity tank and we now have running tap water, which is very good for our learners and for the community,” Mr Mutuna said.

And Chituba Primary School pupil, Matthews Mwelwa, has expressed gratitude to Government for improving the school’s infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Milenge Town Council Acting Director of Works and Engineering, Chenda Musenge stated that the local authority is impressed with the quality of works by the contractor.
