Mbala Municipal Council has outlined the scope of works for the Munyazi-Ntenda road.

The road project is expected to improve connectivity and facilitate the movement of goods and services in the area.

The project is being funded through the 2025 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) fuel allocation, with K1,075, 000 earmarked for works covering a 25-kilometre stretch of the road.

Mbala Municipal Council Director of Engineering, Chipa Mbewe, said the works will include bush clearing, road formation and spot gravelling.

Mr Mbewe said the project is important as the road connects key farming communities and that once completed, it will make it easier for farmers to transport their produce and access essential goods and services.

He added that improved road infrastructure will also contribute to increased economic activity by strengthening connectivity between communities and markets.

“The Munyazi-Ntenda road is important to the local farming communities because it will help improve the movement of agricultural produce and access to essential goods and services, which is key in district like ours,” Mr Mbewe said.

He said the road is expected to play an important role in supporting local farmers and facilitating the movement of agricultural produce and other goods.

And residents are expectant of the benefit from improved accessibility once the works are completed.

One of the residents, Evans Sinyangwe has expressed happiness with the progress of works carried out so far.

“We want to see this road completed, we have suffered for a long time, we now want to be moving quicker into town and come back,” he said.

“Transport has been expensive due to the bad road because only a few vehicles could come here, we that once completed more transporters will come thereby reducing transport costs,” he added

The Mbala Town Council through CDF has worked on number projects which include roads and school infrastructure among others.
