United Party for National Development (UPND) Senior Management Committee Member and Former Minister of Lands , Sylvia Masebo has urged Zambians to ignore social media messages allegedly aimed at promoting hatred and division by individuals who want to destroy the good name of the country.

Ms Masebo has cautioned the public that social media is heavily laden with falsehoods, disinformation, and manipulated content targeting the UPND members especially former cabinet Ministers.

She has noted that all online content or insinuations tagging her name are all   fake, adding that she has never given an interview to any media platform, individual journalist or blogger since the August 13 , 2026 general elections.

Ms Masebo who is an entrepreneur and politician who has served in various portfolios said this during a media engagement in Lusaka today.

“All they want is to create division between the President and his former Ministers like myself and others which will never work.

Masebo has pledged deep loyalty to President Hichilema, stating that she   will remain committed to the UPND regardless of electoral losses or results of her petition in court.

“President Hakainde Hichilema’s administration has stabilised Zambia’s macroeconomic environment and all the constitutional laws that have been made by this government. I was part of them so I am still in the government, I am in the senior management committee of the party;” she said.

“Zambia must remain under the leadership of President Hichilema as the country is on a stable path of economic recovery and democratic governance, the country is in safe hands under President Hichilema,” she said.

She further denied social media reports claiming that she called the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) a corrupt institution, saying that she fully respects the constitutional mandate of the commission as an independent body managing national elections.

Ms Masebo stressed that taking a petition to court is her constitutional right and not undermining the ECZ.

“I took the matter to court because I was aggrieved by how I was maligned by my competitor, how I was defamed by one competitor which is my constitutional right and I have no issues with the ECZ,” she stated.

She further revealed that attempts to divide UPND party members by enemies of the government should be ignored.

Ms Masebo stressed that following the August 2026 general elections, quite a number of parliamentary election petitions have been lodged at the high court by various losing candidates, saying that she is not the only one who has petitioned her opponent.
