The Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church in Chinsali District in Muchinga Province has urged citizens, especially young people, to use digital space meaningfully and impact society positively.
SDA Chinsali Central Mission District pastor in charge, Mosten Mulenga bemoaned the abuse of social media.
The pastor in charge stated that it was disheartening to see how people are using social media to engage in illicit acts and carry out propaganda against one another.
He has since advised people to use digital platforms to preach social change and promote peace and unity.
”During this camp meeting, the church is building capacity in young people to use social media to promote goodwill,” Pastor Mulenga said.
Pastor Mulenga said this today during the 2026 SDA Annual Camp meeting held at Mweye campsite in Chinsali district.
The camp meeting was held under the theme “Revived for Mission.”
And Pastor Mulenga used the occasion to encourage peace, if the nation is to develop.
Meanwhile, a Dorcas mother of SDA Central Church, Lisa Mwanza, highlighted that social media is a powerful tool that can be used to preach peace and love.
Ms Mwanza urged women to be models in society and not to engage in illicit activities that make them trend on social media.
“I would like to encourage my fellow women to embrace peace and be role models in society. We should preach peace, especially since Zambia is a Christian nation; we all want peace,” she stated.
Ms Mwanza further urged the general public to use social media responsibly and embrace peace as Christians.
A youth, Georgy Kapambwe, also echoed similar sentiments and encouraged his fellow youths to use social media to their advantage to preach the gospel.
